Welcome to "The Youth Dem Future" Webpage.

I, Reeva Proctor founded "The Youth Dem Future" aka "Enfants Du Future" organization in February 2008. In the beginning the original goal of the organization was based solely on youth in Jamaica to receive the essentials they need to succeed in their educational environment, and for Jamaican decedents here in Canada to learn about their culture. As of recently this idea turned into a international project.

When I was promoting "The Youth Dem Future" I networked with various members within the Montreal, and Jamaican communities. I had the opportunity to learn more about other Caribbean countries and how closely they relate. Some share similar backgrounds and history while others are brought together for various other reasons including cuisine, music, and festivities.

This created a similar mission removing the boundaries of being just a Jamaican organization, though still focusing on Jamaica I have widened our goals. The organization focuses on but is not limited to Canada and countries in the Caribbean.

The Youth Dem Future's mission is to provide Caribbean youth with the essentials they need to succeed in their future.

Our current goals:

Canada:

-To create educational fundraising events for both youth and adults that focus on importance of education, and embracing their culture.

-Completing our annual summer campaign "REQUEST FOR UNITY" which will be raising awarness, and funds to begin creating a summer program to educate Caribbean descendents of their culture, and history. This will be accomplished through various activities, field trips, events, music, cuisine ect.

Jamaica :

-To provide school supplies to small and basic schools in Jamaica in areas such as Mammee Bay, Spanish Town, Steertown, and Portmore, as well as raise funds to rent or build a community center in St. Anns Bay, and eventually other areas of Jamaica

Caribbean:

- Donate to an organization that focuses on education in the Caribbean.

Our long term goal

Canada :

- Building programs for all youth to have a pen pal with someone in a different country of their background and incorporate this as part of the learning experience at the summer camp. We will continue to create educational fundraising events to raise awareness of the importance of education for both youth and adults as well as celebrating and embracing their culture.

Jamaica:

- To build a programs in St. Ann's Bay and other areas of Jamaica which will offer programs such as; Big Brother & Sisters, homework help, book club, dance, arts and crafts, music and sexual education. We would also like to incorporate the pen pal idea with someone in a different country of their nationality.

Caribbean/Worldwide:

- Building programs for all youth in different Caribbean countries to have a pen pal with someone in a different country of their nationality.

How we plan to achieve our goals:

The first key to achieving is believing.  Having faith in the project helps reinforce a positive outlook on the organization's success.  With a strong positive network, supporters, sponsors, donors, and volunteers anything is achievable.

The second step is to create awareness of the organization through various campaigns, brochures, advertising, and word of mouth. Unite to help the youth understand the importance of education.

The third step is to create educational events not only raising awareness, but also helping the Caribbean community embrace their culture.
